Error 711, please help

Hi,

I'm using WinXP Pro. After using the repair option in winxp setup, I cannot make new connection (dial-up network). When I try to check the advance dial-up setting, I get a 711 error. Before the repair, I had no problem connecting to the internet or making new connection.

Here what the error says:

Network Connections

Cannot load the Remote Access Connection Manager service.
Error 711: A configuration error on this computer is preventing this connection.

Also, I have attached a picture to further explain the problem. As you can see from the picture, the top two options are unavailable.

Thanks for the info Duracell.

I did what you suggested but I got an error 5: access denied, which is kind of strange since I'm logged in as admin. I also tried the Microsoft knowledge base which suggest I should start 1) telephone 2) Remote Access Connection Manager 3) Remote Access Auto Connection Mananger to no avail.

I problem just do a fresh install which is a pain is the donkey.

I tired a repair of windows XP before with a nasty result as well... i dont think the repair option has been perfected.... a clean install is always better and also the only way windows will work rite
