epson photo r300 colour settings

my wife bought an exercise dvd.when i scan the cover the colour is ok but when i print the purple part is printing blue.is it to do with scanner settings or printer?

the scanner is an epson perfection 1670.

Run the print head test, most colour aberrations are the result of losing a colour, especially on 5+black, where the presence of light and normal versions of cyan and magenta can result in some odd results when one of them is cutting out.

Reminds me, excercising my printer is long overdue, otherwise I'm, likelk to have one mother of a clog-up.
