Encoding 2 titles

Hi :)

I'm using DVD2SVCD/CCE to encode 2 movie titles.
Title 1 is the main movie: 6 channel AC3 for a duration of 1hr30min at 4.25GB.
Title 2 is the making of/behind the sceness etc, 2 channel ac3 for 30 mins at 1.10GB.

Would I be right in assuming that I can't encode both as one movie due to the
audio difference; 6ch and 2ch?

To encode separately, what bitrate should I set for both titles to fit on a 4.37GB disc?

Thanxxx

Couldn't say as I don't know the bitrate of the audio.

Guess the 2 channel audio is 192k. 192/8*30*60=42MB.
384/8*60*90=253MB.

This means that you have roughly 4159MB free for video. Next you need to pick a ratio. I mean you could encode based on length 90/120 & 30/120 or you could go based on size or I guess neither.

Based on time that would be (if I didn't screw up) 4732 for the movie and extras on size 4989 for the movie and 3960 for the extras.

I can't be the only one who owns a calculator as I know windows comes with one.

I've extracted the audio for an exact figure....
2ch= 42mb and 6ch=288mb.

So that would leave 4124mb for video (4454mb=4.35gb).

Not sure on your formula for calculating the ratio (maths isn't my strongest point).

To simplify this, what 'CD Size' would you recommend under the 'Bitrate tab' for each title?

Thanx Celtic ;)

Okay, just do a simple time length ratio to get the CD Size thats needed, the different bitrates for the audio of both dont really change the figure much anyway I've found.

The total length of both parts is 120min, so for the the main movie the bit rate would be 90min/120min X 4440 = 3330. The Extras would then be 1110. So I would just use 3340 & 1100 as CD Size in DVD2SVCD and both would be encoded at approx the same bitrate. If the extras arent that important, drop its size by 10% (quality & bitrate drop slightly) and add the extra gained bits to the main movie. In this case I would then use 3440 & 1000.

As long as they add up to the desired total, I guess it doesn't really matter. I would probably just do a ratio based on the original size, as said though if the extras aren't that important...

Toooo Big ! :(

Once Authored with Maestro, the resulting VIDEO_TS Folder is 4.45GB.
That's 800mb too much isn't it? Assuming the capacity is 4.37GB ???

Where do you get the figure '4440' from in your formula?

4440 is 4.34GB's. You problem is I guess that DVD2SVCD made the calculations with 224k audio for both where as you have 192 and 448?

So for the 192k one you would be 7MB's under and 143 over for the other. Making it a total of 136.

More like 80MB's over by the way.

Thanx Celtic,
So would checking the 'do not convert audio, use source' work better with the 4440 CD size for future reference?
