encarta 2002 / 2003 full install to hd?

Hi,

i'm getting crazy with the installation of M$ Encarta 2002 or 2003. I want a full installation to the harddisk so that later on i don't need to play disc jockey. I choose the option with the full installation but every time after the 1. Cd I receive the message to put the 2 CD (a total of 4 CD) into my CD-Rom and this CD is not recogniced as a valid M$ CD. If i then cancel the installation and chose a standard installation the program runs just fine and if a chose a topic which is located on the 2 CD, big surprise, now the CD is regogniced correctly and the topic is shown.
Does anybody has the same or similiar problem or better a solution?

Thanks

Harry

Poko is right ... this is the best way to do it ! :)
I would suggest Daemon Tools since this program is freeware ..
you can get it from: _http://www.daemon-tools.net
For the others, FantomCD, Alcohol, I would suggest to use the search function here on the the forum .. You will find serials and keygens ...
But give Daemon Tools a go .. I think you will like it ..

Probably your copies of the 4 CDs don't have the correct labels they should have for full installation. This is the only thing M$ Setup checks.

I'll post the correct labels if you're interested (but I have only the german versions - the labels for the english ones are different for sure, but perhaps somebody else knows).

To mount all 4 CDs with daemon tools is not really a good idea.
The CDs have a lot of redundant data for those users who don't want to install completely to HD (silly). So the total amount of HD-space for a full install is about 1.4 GB, much less than the content of the 4 CDs.

@ pokopiko

So I gather that Paragon can't deal with protected CD's then??

The only thing I use it for it a handful of games and they're not protected so I wouldn't know.

Always handy to know the limitations of my s/ware.

....DreeM :)

h1.hirsch's problem, as mentioned above, is obviously not the safedisc-protection (since Encarta2000 but still version1 I guess in 2003) - because the setup would not start to read the necessary contents of CD1 when trying the installation with a bad safedisc copy - so never would come to the point asking for the 2nd CD.

It's only because the CDs may not have their correct names (labels) which are checked by the setup program during full installation but (funny) not when running the (not fully) installed program. Believe me, I tested every Encarta release from the very beginning...

@ WeirdMusicMafia

would be great to post the german labels because I have the german version of encarta 2002 and 2003. :)

thanks for your help

Hi, h1.hirsch!

Here are the necessary labels for the 4 Encarta Professional 2003 CDs you need for complete install:

CD1: L03DDXRC1
CD2: L03DDXRC2
CD3: L03DDXRC3
CD4: L03DDXRC4

(These are only for the german professional version)

Encarta Professional 2002 (german):

CD1: ERS02DDLXRN
CD2: ERS02DDLX1
CD3: ERS02DDLX2
CD4: ERS02DDLX3

hopefully will help you...

@ WeirdMusicMafia

thanks man, you are the greatest

cheers harry

h1.hirsch and me were discussing the german version of Encarta Professional 2003. It's delivered on 4 CDs, but it may be possible, that somebody has ripped the (one) DVD-Version already and written a new installer (this could fit on only 3 CDs).
The english version of Encarta Reference Suite Professional 2003 is 5 CDs!

But, if you look at M$s Encarta site, you'll find smaller versions of Encarta (i.e. without the really amazing world atlas)

Look
h**p://encarta.msn.com/shop/Compare.asp

Direct Links are not allowed I have edited yours >>> .Please read the Rulez >>> Tnx >>> joripe

Here are the necessary labels for the Encarta Professional 2003 5CDs you need for complete install: USA
