dynamic or basic disk info req xp pro

in my win xp pro i have my c: boot drive set as basic ntfs is this correct should it be set as dynamic,its a single partition

i have another drive on ide2 thats set as master and a dvd as slave its set as dynamic ie the hd should i set it back to basic

there is no way back without formating (this means data loss!);
you can convert from basic to dynamic, but not back to basic;

i can transfer the data to c: then format, but will i be able to still see the slave drive in explorer if i revert ti to a basic

if you don't have problems with incompatible software, then is no need for formating; some backup software or partitioning software may have problems with dynamic drives, but if you aren't bothered with incompatible apps, then leave it as it is; Or are you bored? :D

although only one drive letter mapped to a dynamic drive doesn't make sense; e.g. this partition type is made for self increasing volumes; so you don't have to re-partitioning, if one volume at your second HDD runs out of space;

for more information: left click at your desktop, hit "F1" and have a look into Windows' helpfile;
