dvd2svcd rippin' prob

this Eros Int'l dvd is hard to rip.....even with some of the freeware rippers.......it will only recognize the dvd more like episodes followed by individual chapters.....when u play back the original dvd, the movie chapters run normally in sequence without any probs

so when i tried dvd2svcd, it asks you to select the group that you wanna backup....you're stuck with 25 - 30 mins of video while it discards the rest of the movie

it seems the only way is encode 1/2 an hour at a time and try to merge them together to make one whole movie

ne1 bumped into this prob b4.....what should i do

thx

CM

nice to see ya around.......anyways i did try dvdecrypter...it will rip in iso and file mode no probs

but i need to rip in IFO mode....which it can't.....in my screen it appears as VTS_01....followed by PGC_1.......25 to 30 mins of vobs......some PGC_x 00:00:00 come up like this......without any times

dvd2svcd does the same thing.......it can't recognize the entire movie length......just 25 - 30 mins of vobs at a time or 00:00:00 movie length

i did try downloadin some of those one click programs on free trial basis......some of them actually backup ok but the quality is just not the same as CCE

Arr.. I now understand. I have seen a few like that, cant remember the specifics of solving the problem though :)

You can try ripping the DVD with Shrink, just set it to "No Compression", then its basically a ripper. Or use it in Reathor mode and rip each Episode out individually if its able to see them, again set to "No Compression" so that no actual transcoding is done.

I'd also turn to my old favourite SmartRipper and see if it "see's" the dvd any differently as its also able to rip out each Episode individually, but only if it can see more than 1 PCG.

Dont waste your time on those one-click wonders, as you have found, the quality of their output is somewhat lacking :D

i did try that proggie n was able to rip to HD with no compression....had to check off mapping option.....dvd2svcd still could not rip it.....not familar with this proggie n whent back to your 1st suggest

use dvdecrypter to rip in file mode to HD......remember i had one dvd that was like this.....same prob....tryin' to figger out how i was able to encode it....

this particular dvd only had let's say two parts or episodes to it......dvd2svcd encoded the first part with chapters properly but the second part was like one whole chapter.....lol.....what a surprise!!!!

now i remember i had used the older version 122b1 to encode the other movie........when u r in conversion option....i think....it shows movie length....dvd2s won't recognize the whole movie.....it wants to default to the 4th or 5th episode....no prob.....just use your cursor and manually go to the top episode and choose this one....the movie length appears to come up short.......don't worry

next step is to uncheck the dvd chapters option.....i don't want the other episodes to come out as one chapter like b4..... use your math skills or calculator to calc how many seconds u want to break the movie......enter this figure manually

ok......now you're ready to encode.......watch if CCE determines the correct length.....it does see it correctly....off i go to sleep......wake up......it's backed up......

:)

the only prob i don't like is the EROS watermark.......imho its tacky to have it on a dVD

any suggests to get rid of this watermark?

Not sure what the EROS watermark is that your talking about. Can you post/attach a pic of it?

ok......here it is.....just these light grey letters EROS comes up now and then throughout the dvd......just ignore the dark background in this scene......it's sorta like watching TV.....broadcsters put their watermark

btw, i reencoded the dvd using 122b3......just hilight the top episode n manually enter the number of secs you wanna change the chapters

it works....the whole movie is encoded properly

I know of no tools to get rid of such logos for DVD/VOB files, only for AVI file. It would be crazy to convert the DVD to an AVI, remove the logo (it requires a re-encode also) then to encode back to DVD. Simple solution, learnt to like logos :)

the dvd was authored with dvd producer n sonic solutions imagescript

just curious how they inserted that logo.....is it a two step process because it ruins the quality....the dvd quality is not that great compared to a hollywood movie.....

Many fully funtional trial/unregistered/demo/shareware/etc software adds logos, thats pretty normal. If you want a good simple authoring tool, try TMPGEnc DVD Author, they have a 30 day free trial version that does NOT add any logos. Same with DVDLab. There are even some freeware authoring tools, such as DVDAuthor + its GUI, that work very well indeed and have no logos.

even tho i was able to encode the entire movie....just watchin' it......think the 00:00:00 cells sorta ruined it.....some scenes the voice is out of sync....a slight drag......then the voice catches up again......

hopefully future releases of dvd2s will be able to detect the entire length of the movie properly.....wheras the one clickers could but the quality is not that good...

oh well.....
