Every AVI movie I try to encode gives me these error messages... does anyone know what the problem is?

What sort of AVI's, can you tell us what GSPOT says about them for Video & Audio. Are there Extracted_audio_1.mpa, Encoded_audio_1.mp2.wav and an Encoded_audio_1.mp2 audio files? Is there a large *.mpv video file as well?

I assume your not trying to do all this on a FAT32 formated HD as well.

Both my Drives are now NTFS.
Here is the GSpot Log File:
Audio Format:
Code: 0x0055
Name: WAVE_FORMAT_MPEGLAYER3 (MP3)
Vendor: ISO/MPEG

Gspot was unable to find an audio codec which will decompress this format.

To get more information by having GSpot instruct the O/S to "play" the file
and then examine the results, press the button labeled "Render".

The following codecs should both capable of processing this format:

{DivX Decoder Filter}
{DivX Decoder Filter}

To get more information by having GSpot instruct the O/S to "play" the file
and then examine the results, press the button labeled "Render".

DirectShow partially succeeded to play file. The actual text of the error or warning is:

0x00040258: VFW_S_AUDIO_NOT_RENDERED - Cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available.

The following combination of filters were used:

{C:\Documents and Sett..-..eos\Resident Evil.avi} (Video Source)
{AVI Splitter} (Video Splitter)
{DivX Decoder Filter} (Video Decoder)
{Color Space Converter} (Video Post-processor)
{Unspecified VFW codec} (Video Post-processor)
{Unspecified VFW codec} (Video Post-processor)
{Video Renderer} (Video Renderer)

PS:
The problem occurs with the same source material I previously had successfully encoded before I reformatted my hard drive to NTFS.

GSPOT says basically you dont have an MP3 codec installed so cant decode it. Then I suggest you install one, try the Lame MP3 codec attached. Just right click the LameACM.inf file and select Install.

Hmmmm there is no .inf file among the unzipped files. Did you maybe miss including one when you zipped it?
And double clicking any of the icons does not install it.

I tried the suggestions, and nothing worked. I'm going to uninstall and then reinstall the software. Maybe that will do the trick.

I reinstalled, and Im still getting the error messages.
Bsweet also generates errors during the encoding process. I'm stumped.
The errors appear to be related to DVD Author, which is within the DVD2SVCD bundle:

"DVDAuthor::dvdauthor, version 0.6.10.

If you cant find a simple file within a zip file, then no wonder your having problems. Sorry, I really cant help you anymore.

Like I said, I got the most current version of Lame off the Web and installed it.
I guess what your curt reply really means is that you too are stumped by this problem.
I have not installed the first Windows2000 service pack since I reformatted my drive. Is it possible that could be a contributor to this problem?

Not sure that all versions of LAME ACM are capable of decoding. You might be better off re-installing the windows fraunhoffer ACM one. Seem to recall seeing the updated version from wmp10 floating around as a standalone install.

Apparently, I've found a simple solution.
Instead of using the settings expressed in the DivX to DVD Tutorial, I restored all the default settings. For now at least, the programs seem to be working.
