Yes, it does compress the movie.

It has to, as the original almost certainly comes from a dual layer dvd,
with a few exceptions.

Steve...

so if it is a movie that fits onto one disc with the audio streams stripped it wont compress it then would it!!??

I know its the easiest and lasiest to copy DVDs its just that it leaves the whole end credits, so there for it might be compressing a movie when it does not have to(caus maybe cutting the credits out is enough to fit) i wish i gave you more information about what it was doing

Well, if you wanted to cut the credits off then I guess maybe DVDShrink would be a better option.

If the movie won't fit without cutting end credits, then as far as I am concerned it has to be re-compressed.

Now what they really need is an option like in XviD so that you can set the quality of the credits seperatly to the quality of the movie.

Yea, the main feature will be compressed only if necessary. But I notice that most of the VOB files are originally 1.3Gb, and I've seen em compress down to 0.99GB so basically, I've never seen a difference in quality.
