dvd writer best budget model info req

im interested in getting dvd writer to back up my films so kids wont scratch them
anymore but im on a budget under £100 if theres a model at that price
what brand etc model also i read that ther going to bring out higher capacity
dvd media in future so will dvd writers be able to use them or would a firmware upgrade be necessary alsp theres different formats to recommendations please

I wouldn't bank on being able to use dual layer media with current writers though, even with firmware upgrades.

they have some cheap drives as well wouldnt a multi drive be ok as it can then write to cdr's as well any more opinions would be welcomed om what drive
as iv seen a few brands id like some more info before i buy one i dont care if it comes with or without software as i have some already id just like something reliable branded or unbranded drive like some liteons are
