DVD will not play on Sony, but plays on Ronin

Hello, :)
i have used winavi to change and avi file into dvd, but winavi would NOT burn the dvd for me so i used nero to burn the files to dvd (didn't think that would work) but i ended up with a perfect dvd when i played it on my daughters ronin p90h...i was pleased seems it only took me 20 mins to burn....

For some reason the dvd will NOT play in my sony DVP-NS330, the player says... CANNOT PLAY everytime i put the dvd in it. I have tried dvd+rw and dvd-r both play in the ronin but NOT in the sony..

any help would be appreciated

Some players are picky re media try another brand (preferably A grade Ritek)

+ if its an old Sony it may not play DVDR at all!

The only way to get burnt disks to play in many Sony units is to burn +R's with Bitsetting on. But not all burners suport bitsetting.

but could anyone tell me if i was burning the right way?? what is the difference from putting an avi onto dvd to putting a mpeg2 onto a dvd... i want the end result to be the same as a normal dvd. So if i bought a dvd movie would that disc be a mpeg2 coverted onto dvd???
should i use mpeg or avi for my dvd disc? there are so many different types i am feeling lost lol :p


i have also tried dvd+r but still won't play on my sony..(still have to try ritek)
the sony player should play

DVD+R
DVD-RW

Sony suck!!! I say that cause you pay so much and they are such a pain in the ass with what they play. But I have found if I burn with burnatonce .99b with ritek it plays ever time in them. Thats what I found and I tell you this I would never by a sony cause I haven't found one yet that plays svcd or vcds so what the hell is that sony. :mad: Like I said sony suck!!! :eek:

You are not putting an avi onto a dvdr, the program your using WinAvi is simply converting the avi to mpeg2 (and does not do it particularly well quality wise) which you are then burning to dvdr with Nero.

what is Bitsetting? where do i find it and how do i turn it on?

i am using a NEC ND-2500A dvd burner
