DVD-VCD Slowwwwdowwwn

Hi

I am using the chickenmans ripping guide and excelent results they are too.
but there is a wee problem with slowdown on fast sequences and it can be a bit juddery. pic and sound quality is excellent.

I am running Ga7zxr mb XP, 1200 133athalon oclocked to 1300+ plenty hd space and 512 sdram.

Where does the slowdown come from is it the ripping, dvd2vcd,tmpeg or easyvcd ?

I had that norton crap in my mc and it seems to have slowed everything down even after taking it out.
I am maybe going to have to do a clean install but if I can fix this i wont.

any advice would be appreceated

is the slowdown in the actual final VCD/or whatever product? or just the system while encoding?
'cause everything should be fine on the final product, however while encoding & such your system will use up most of its resources, so you can't really multitask (happens even on my athlon XP 1800 @1900).
However, can't tell exactly what you mean. I suspect you mean the final product, so must be something not functioning right that messes the encoding. Perhaps the Hz frequency is off? 48,000Hz to 44,100 Hz?

I assume your refering to final playback on your DVD Player ???

If so, read the NOTE at the bottom of the Tutorial refereing to M1 or M2-Edit, that will fix your problem.

hi
thanks for that

I suspect the slowdown is happening at the encoding stage, although I have all back ground apps switched off to try and reduce this.

The reason I think it is the pc is because when shutting down from any prog or opening windows for that matter, the Icons are very slow to recover which makes me think a reinstall would be in order.
I was hoping to not have to startagain although I have already started re backing up my data. like i said I think that nortons screwed it up as it was flying before I installed it (not making vcds at that stage though).

anymore useful thoughts let me know

Yep sounds like a re-install and may I suggest you leave that Nortons "choke your system" software where it belongs.
