Big thanks to 420 for bringing this to our attention.

An excellent DVD Transcode software shootout with DVD Shrink coming almost last........ surely not !!??!!

Be warned though - Pages load very slowly if on 56k dialup but the test is worth it. Who comes top? Intervideo. Who, why, how?!?

Read on http://www.dvd.box.sk/articles8.php

Please feel free to post your own personal opinions on the test below and your findings. :)

Yep I agree with RW these tests are relative & next week Shrink could be way up there <> me I have always used DVD2One qualities fine for me!!

Some really old versions are tested for Pinnacle and Dvdshrink....
Doh! Did not notice that, well spotted Roady.

Even so, the InterVideo soft still looked excellent considering how quick it is. Must start trying that out. :)

I did a comparison test between InterVideo's newest WinDVD & the new CloneDVD2 Sneak preview using Biker Boyz for the test (copying the whole dvd), and although WinDVD did do a good job, CloneDVD2 utilized the whole blank (4.3gigs) while WinDVD wrote 4.2 - It may be a negligible amount, but then isnt more better?

@ slippery re DVDR size I always make mine 4.25 (or less if they are small) to make an unburned edge to the disk <> does 2 things most burns that go wrong do so right at the end & even when U hold a FULL DVDR by the edges U get sweat/grease marks on it <> @ 4.25 this goes on unburned DVDR so if U back it up again (for archive purposes) U dont get read errors.

Great point John! ;)

As time goes on I am starting to think along the same lines too myself. If you do get a bad batch of media as you say the problems usually surface when you try to fill the disc and any I've not been able to read back with DVD Decrypter to make an iso of have failed at the end too.
