DVD to SVCD Sync Problems

I'm have some Sync Problems when using CM's DVD to SVCD tut, Sometimes either the first disc is out of sync and the second is fine or first is ok and the other is out of sync"
I'm using all the software stated in CM's tut, is there anyway to solve this problem.

Ps. I'm burning them with CDRwin because I like the ChangeCD
pic, I have looked at the tut for sync problems that CM wrote
but does not mention anything about .Bin/.Cue solutions just
Mpeg's

Is it out of sync on pc and dvd player?
I havent had this problem so far.
Only on avi conversions occasionally.
Does it stay out of sync the same amount during playback or gradually get worse?

Hi daveml

It's out of snyc on my DVD (standalone) and is stays out of sync the same amount on play back aswell.

Just ripped the film Trainspotting the other night " First disc out
of Sync the same amount all the way through!!! The second
Disc is perfect?

This is starting to crack me up:mad:

have u got windvd?
if so check the svcd with that.
Just to see if its your player.
If its out on windvd then its the file.

In DVD2SVCD go to bbMPEG tab and change the Movie offset to read 1 second. I also personly prefer to have no CD overlap also (one day when I get a DVD burner it would make it so much easier to join the 2 files together with no overlap so I can drop them onto a DVD.)

I have encodes litterally, well, lets just say lots ! and have never encountered any out of sync problems, not even from the dozen or so AVI I've also converted.

If they play on the PC with WinDVD out of sync the same as per your DVD Player then the file does have problems. Extract the AVSEQ01.MPG file off the CD to HD using Isobuster and follow the tutorial. MPEG2VCR will fix them no probs. Burn to SVCD with Nero but also drop the ChangeCD.bmp file into the burn as well, after the movie mpg file.

If you want to check the Cue/Bin files before you burn them, just install Daemon Tools ( asimple search will find them) and mount the image in there and run the mpg file with WinDVD. All very quick and simple.

CM, daveml,

I tried what you stated early, and I have came to the
conclusion that the problem lies with my standalone
DVD Player (Philips 957)!!!! because I loaded the
.cue file into Daemon Tools and played it using
WinDVD!! guess what? Plays Perfect.. I also
played the Movie Disc through WinDVD on my
LiteOn LTD 163 and again plays perfect so that rules
out the Discs.

So my problem now is what DVD player to buy!
that can play anything I throw at it.

Any suggestions guys would be greatly appreciated.

Ps. Thanks for your support guys this forum really
does ROCK:D :D

One other thing to try.
If u have a resume button, press stop (during playback) and then resume. This can sometimes put the disc back in sync.
If not or if that doesnt work, try the same thing with pause. It sometimes works.
The best advice on buying a standalone is to get a vcd and svcd and whatever else u want to use on it, and go to comet/currys whatever and get them to try them.
Once u know that a model works u can buy it from elsewhere if u want.
A lot of players that say they play svcd dont play them well or struggle if the svcd is not perfect.
Your good encoded ones say with dvd2svcd might work but your screeners may not.
Try before u buy!!
