dvd to dvdr

have done a few dvd to dvdr without many problems and i read loads of guide's but i am still learning. i have a problem but can not find a answer to after a lot of looking so i hope someone has had same problem here.

I am doing hunchback of notre dame dvd to dvdr 5.03gb film only used DVD Decrypter then DVD2AVI to get ac3 and d2v.now TMPGEnc this is where the problem starts after waiting 3 hours to create m2v and then played it back it is slightly juddering not much but enough to notice, also if i proceed to the end and write to disc and play back the sound is out of sync but only slightly.

this is a pal dvd and on DVD2AVI it shows
aspect ratio 16:9
frame rate 20 fps
frame type interlaced

what settings should i change on TMPGEnc?

any help welcome

hmm...btw...framerate = 25fps ;)

don´t know what is wrong ...

hmm...is there a delay @the ac3 files ?(DVD2Avi should notice that)
maybe u should try another encoder like CCE (better quality + faster than TMPG)
which software for reAuthoring did u use ?

Why no just save yourself some time, an extra step, and probably solve this problem by using ReMPEG. You can also go to vcdhelp.com for many tutorials as well as a great forum. Despite the name there is PLENTY of help on dvd to dvdr as well.

don´t use Rempeg ...it produces really poor quality ... (really old this prog....)

I can only say that it has worked well for me. And when using it for something like DVD to DVDR where you are still left with a relatively high bitrate, I seriously doubt most people could ever see the difference anyway. But, certainly if you want to spend more time for a tiny improvement in quality, then there are better ways to go. And I would certainly recommend going the better/longer route if converting to SVCD/VCD. But like I said, when going to DVDR, I'll stick with the quick and easy ReMPEG. Just my 2 cents. Good luck either way!

hmm..who said that I reencode to svcd/vcd ?!
btw . CCE is even faster when I do a 3 pass than rempeg @ 1pass ....
quality is also even better @ half of the bítrate ...

I also started with rempeg2....until I got some scary big blocks and really poor results after long time of waiting ...
Rempeg can´t mess with CCE ... no way ...

Again, I can only say that it has worked well for me. I have used to it to produce DVDR that no one can tell from the original. Can't explain why you had problems just trying to say that I haven't.

I wasn't trying to say YOU do SVCD/VCD. It was simply a general point that the quality of the encoder will be more noticeable when transferring a DVD to SVCD/VCD than it will be to DVDR since you are still using a very high bit rate relatively speaking with the DVDR.

I ABSOLUTELTY AGREE that CCE is a better encoder (in fact maybe the best there is) however to say that any MPEG-2 compliant encoder (which both of these are) is so much better than any other MPEG-2 compliant encoder that it will produce better video at HALF the bitrate is to put it nicely an exaggeration (assuming of course they are properly setup with the correct settings.)

Anyway, since many people have problems using CCE I was simply trying to pass along that there are other methods which also shave off one step in the process that others MAY want to consider. And I certainly wouldn't ever suggest a particular piece of software if I had experienced crappy results with it.

hmm... I know Rempeg2 really good ...cause when I started the DVD2DVDR stuff I followed the guides from doom9.... everything was ok ... but it seems that Rempeg2 has some probs with only some movies ... I think the Metallica DVD is one of them ... not even @ 90% rempeg can produce a normal quality movie ...

--> I think there r already some posts about this problems in our forum + I´m sure there are some @ doom9 ....

the problem with cce is that it put label at the end and i find it very disturbing , because when i burn dvd i want it to be like original, at least the movie itself (withought the bonus).

The problem was i had force film set to on (dvd2avi) it should have been none and then i get 25fps what ist should have been.the only problem is i still have sound slightly out of sync, but i just done another dvd with no problems it must be aniamation???
