DVD to DVD r

I am looking to back up a music dvd (wont say the name of the band to avoid embarrassment). It is 6.92 gig, can I somehow downsize the file or split the file onto two dvd's to try and keep the menus if possible or do I just extract the music?

Any help would be much appreciated.

cheers

it´s a nice program but you need some time to get a copy.

4 to 6 hours with an Athlon xp2200 ;)

Cheers boys for your help.

Just one last question, by converting from dvd9 to dvd5, would this keep all the menus and stuff???

Or would dvdxcopy be able to do this???

dvdxcopy is doing this but you will get 2 dvd´s....dvd2dvdr doesn´t

maybe dvd2dvdr will do it too..if you an expert and you know how to use Ifoedit...i am not an expert with ifoedit

as i havent yet invested in a DVD burner i cannot vouch for the speed but my mate reckons he gets a copy in about 3 hours, he is using CCE 2.50 and not CCE 2.6* this may be the difference as i know it affects the time when using DVD2SVCD

if he is doing a dvd9 to dvd5 conversion in 3 hours he must be doing very small movies. ;)
dvd2dvdr is ssssslllllllooooooooowwwwww!!
Thats with cce 2.50, which is the approved version for dvd2dvdr and dvd2svcd.
Although these progams are similar they are quite different.
If u want things as they are on the original then dvdxcopy is the easiest. It just uses 2 dvdrs instead of 1.

I am just having a wee go at dvdxcopy at the moment I have managed to rip it onto one dvd but I have not got the special features, twenty minutes to go.

I think I will try it again on two dvd just to compare, i'll post the results in a few hours as I only have 1 x speed discs.

I have problems using dvdxcopy 1.3 and its burning engine Nero.
If u rename the folder that dvdxcopy creates before it burns, u can use the burning software of your choice.
Dvdxcopy deletes any folders it creates on exit! ;)

Cheers for the info daveml.

I still haven't managed to master dvdxcopy:

I am trying to backup the w*stlif* dvd using the following methods:

1. I tried using a single dvd with the 'start with movie (keep menu)' setting but this just goes straight into playing the first song with video, then the dvd just stops.

2. I have also tried splitting onto 2 dvd using the default program setting:

Disc 1 settings where 'start as normal' but this disc only plays the warning about the disc being a backup then the disc just stops.

Disc 2 settings where 'start with menu (keep movie)' this seems to have some success with the menus but the music videos are all on disc 1 so I can't access them via disc 2.

3. I am trying the single disc option again with the setting 'start with menu' I will post the outcome of this when it finishes.

Is there something that I am missing here as I don't want to end up with more costers than I have cups!!!

Cheers

Just tried the single disc option again with the setting 'start with menu' but still no joy.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi daveml

The New Version can keep the folders. It will not delete away when exit. Here is a page, how do is DVDXCopy works. Post by some 1 in this forum.

A Output disk is ready. This is the 1 that keep your VIDEO_TS folders. The Box must mark check, before copy the DVDs.
