DVD splitting

I just downloaded the spiderman dvd quaulity movie that is over a gig off kazaa. I was wondering if there was a program that can split the movie in 2 699 mb files so i can put on cd-r?

What format is it in? If it's avi you can use virtualdub. If it's mpeg use can use TMPGEnc.

Just over 1gig makes it an AVI. Just load into VirtualDUB, mark out the section you DONT want, hit Delete key, then Save AVI. Repeat for 2nd bit.

Also asking in the correct forum would even help further. Moving there now.
