DVD Skipping!

I burned some new DVD-R's @ 2x and they are now skipping.

I used other DVD-R's burned them @ 4x and they were better.

Is this the media (DVD-R)or could it be somthing else. If it is the media what are the best quality DVD-R to purchase?

Does the space on my HD make a huge difference in burning quality? :)

Try a program like DVD Identifier to see who makes the media. You could just have junk media. As far as HD drive space goes either you have enough space or you don't and most programs will tell you before you start. But the OS could have problems if the drive is 3/4 the way full or more.

Yes My HD is over 3/4 full.
I am only burning from Video TS folder but because my HD is so full the OS could be causing the skipping??

I use 2000 NT, Nero 6 for burning, using this OS, over 3/4 full, could this be the cause for skipping?? :)

Ok, sounds good. :)

How do I know if a DVD-R is good quality or not, what am I looking for in DVD indentifier to let me know if a DVD is good quality? :)

Under "Media Code" -Block it will tell you who makes the media and by you showing us that we can tell you if its good or bad media. This is what it looks like for Ritek G04's:
** INFO : Hex Dump Of 'Media Code'-Block Listed Below
** INFO : 4-Byte Header Preceding 'Media Code'-Block Discarded
** INFO : Format 0Eh - Pre-Recorded Information In Lead-In
0000 : 01 40 c1 fd 9e d8 52 00 02 96 0e 14 88 9a 80 00 .@....R.........

There is a simple way to tell the difference, crappy media will skip & go blocky while go media simple wont. The only way to know what is good for your player is trying differnt available media. Ritek is consider one of the best suppliers, Princo is one of the worst.

Thanks guys for the info  I'll see if I can get some Ritek DVD-R's, I also heard Verbatim & Mitsui is good but very expensive
