dvd shrink problem vts_01_4.vob

after decrypting a dvd with dvddecrypter and shrinking it, I'm trying to put it in .iso format, but shrink goes for over and hour, then I keep getting an error message. Not sure if it's the same message every time, but I think so.
It is :
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
Failed to write file "VTS_01_4.VOB"
Access is denied

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,

Are you running Windows 98/ME or 2000/XP ? If Win98/ME, then your hit its inherent 4gb max file size. If Win2000/XP then are your HD's NTFS formatted ?

It is Windows ME. I remember reading something about that...fat32 etc, but I could not follow the instructions for some reason.
Could you dumb it down for me and tell me what to do?

thanks,

I also run WinsME (because my system is an old one), and have the same problem with DVDShrink to backup to ISO format. So I fix it this way: re-author and backup to a hard-disk folder, and then use Nero to burn as a Video-DVD!

To bad media such as Princo, I set DVDShrink preference ~4GB to avoid burning to the margin of DVD. If you use good media (Ritek), you don't have to do that.

For more info about DVDShrink Preferences, go to:

any file. no single file can be larger than 4gb on a fat32 partition, which is a problem when creating dvd isos because a full-sized dvd is 4.38gb. unless you format and use an NTFS partition (with a corresponding OS, like windows xp or windows 2000) you won't be able to create an iso larger than 4gb. as a way around this, you can do as trungthu suggested and use another program to master the dvds from the .vob, etc, files, such as nero's DVD-Video layout.

You can still use Shrink, just dont make an ISO file, but select "Hard Disk Folder" instead. Then each file will be 1 gb max sixe, which is no probs for WinME. Then just burn out the VIDEO_TS folder with Nero (in DVD-Video mode), Record Now DX (Data Disk mode) or whatever.
