DVD Shrink Error – Help would be greatly appreciated

First of all I just want to say thanks to the mods for the useful guides (especially ChickenMan) and the great forum. As far as DVD Burning goes, this is THE place.

That said… I really hope it’s also the place where I’ll find a solution to this problem.

I’ve been trying to backup my Buffy DVD’s and it’s becoming a pain in the neck.
I managed to go through until the 4th disc of the Second Season but now I’m stuck. I can decrypt the disc to my hard drive easily enough (with DVD Decrypter) but then when I try to open it with DVD Shrink (so I can cut some corners and put only 2 episodes per DVD) I always get the same error.

“DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue this operation.
invalid nv_pck: nv_vobu_ea
The reason is: Unknown”

It happens every time, even if I try to open the disc from the original DVD instead of the Hard Drive.

I already used the Forum search option to look for a thread regarding this error but it was to no avail.

I really hope someone can help me, if not with a solution at least with some propositions for replacement programs to DVD Shrink or maybe a replacement technique to backup DVD TV Series.

Thanks in advance and please excuse my noobishness. =)

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the kind words, therefore I had better answer you :D

Unfortunately not a big user of Shrink, I have never seen that error. When you use DVD Decrypter to rip to your HD, I assume you have "Detect Master Errors" ticked ( in Tools/Settings/General).

DVD2One 1.3 is an alternative to Shrink, just select whole disk.

First of all thanks for the reply. =)

Well, I've checked and it turns out that box wasn't ticked. Now DVD Decrypter detects the Error:
"Device Authentication Failed! Reason: Failed to get Varient"

Sorry to bother you again with this but could this be a problem with this specific disc or am I doing anything wrong? (the other Buffy discs were fine)

I'm going to try DVD2One 1.3 anyway, thanks for the advice.
