hi folks,

before i start, i am a virgin to pc's, burning, converting and so on.......so when/if you answer.....please in words a layman can understand.

i have a few films on my hard drive (the easy bit), avi's, although the file name includes xvid, divx and the likes i have used tmpgenc to convert the file, now have 2, a wav & mpeg file.

accessed this film with nero set up menus etc (the complete effort was about 4.1gb's. it doesnt burn!!!!!!dvd + rw philips 824k/20 works with both + & - discs.

i used dvd decrytor to decode a pre recorded dvd....did its bits fine..attempted to access this file on my hard drive and got the following error message:

dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
failed to open c:\documents and settings\blah\blah\blah
the system cannot find the file specified

how can i access this file??????????

failing that, can you suggest where i can find complete idiots guides (i mean idiot) to decrytion, burning etc.............

i've been trying for a month on my own but i need help.

thanks in advance from an idiot.

I've moved this to a more appropriate forum.

What are you useing TMPGEnc to convert your AVI to, is it VCD, SVD or DVD ?

Using DVD Decrypter to rip a DVD to your HD, did you use FILE mode and select ALL files, if not, there lies your problem.

All the guides you need are in, would you believe, the Tutorial section. There are 2, one in the Video and one in the DVD sections.

tmpgenc to convert to mpeg....i get 2 files - a wav & mpeg file.....is this the wrong format??

as for dvd decryptor....not sure...i'll try again.

cheers

Converting your AVI to DVDR, I'd suggest you read the DivX to DVDR Tutorial in the Video section. Or use The FilmMachine to go the job as its simpler to use for any new at all this.

TMPGEnc by itself was fine when converting to VCD or SVCD's, but for DVD's there is substantially better and easier ways to do it.
