DVD Shrink 1st time user.

Hi

I thought I would give this little prog a try from my usual dvd back up method of using DVD2SVCD for encoding and Maestro for authoring.

While I get superb quality results (main movie only) with my usual method, it is not 100% flawless.
One of the down sides is that sometimes the all important 'forced' subs (so we can understand foreign/alien speaking) are lost in the process.
I've tried progs to detect and save these subs to no avail......it's certainly hard work doing it manually.

So, hoping to ammend this, I've turned to DVD Shrink and downloaded version 3 beta5 and followed a guide posted recently.

As a first time user I'm a little stuck how to select the main movie only.
The LHS window displays the whole dvd structure.
Please could someone help me with setting this up.
This would be most appreciated.

Thanks for the link.
Been down that path and when imported into Maestro, all the subs are displayed, when it's just the forced ones I'm after.
The film in question is Sum Of All Fears.

How can I set up movie only with DVD Shrink?

You still working on Sum of All Tears ? At least your persistant :D

When you load the movie in and you see the dvd structure in Shrink, just hit the Reauthor button, a new window pops up. Then just drag & drop the main movie only across into the new window and continue from there.

Worked a treat CM ! And the forced subs in there as well.

Might I ask?......going back to importing subs into DVD Maestro,
what would be the best method of doing this?
I've tried ripping with vobsub (filter within Virtualdub) and saving with subsync, but this results in the subs being way out of sync.

Glad it worked for ya.

I have never used vobsub so cant help you ther. I tend to use DVD2SVCD to all the forced subs in permantly. But that is a problem then I manually stip them out of the vobs using SubRip. It is rare that I ever have to use SubRip though.

Once tried the DVD2SVCD option on Sum Of All Fears but it didn't single out the forced subs??
Will have another play. I guess that's something you set as default is it?
Just in case there are forced subs that are not so obvious in a film.
