DVD-ROM Won't Read Backup DVD-R's

Hi,

I have been having a problem with my DVD-ROM drives. They both appear to read commercial DVD's without a problem. However, with burned DVD-R's, the drives do not recognize that there is even a disc in the drive. The DVD-R's play on my DVD-/+R/RW drives and my stand-alone DVD-players. Both my DVD-ROM's have this problem (1 each on 2 separate desktops). Both DVD-ROM drives are at least a few months old - one of them is an Artec DVD-ROM 16X Model DHM-G48.

Hi Richrok, Welcome to our forum! :cool:

What was the software you used to burn these discs?
What settings (ISO, UDF, Joliet, finished/closed?) did you choose while burning?

I used Instant Copy 7.0.3.140 to burn most of my DVD-R's. I burn an image onto the hard disk and then burn from the hard disk to the DVD-R. I haven't tried to tweak the settings at all. For write method, its on Automatic. Closing Method is Automatic. For write speed, I use Automatic or sometimes I put it on Medium. The burner that i have is a 4x burner, I am using TDK 2X DVD-R's.

A few times, I have experimented with Nero Recode 2 as part of Nero 6 Ultra Edition. I've set the burn speed to 2x when using this, but other than that, there doesn't appear to be a whole lot of settings to play around with.

IC in standard settings should result in standard compliant DVD backups;
Please recheck the region settings for the -ROM drives (in the device manager)?
And can you try it with DVD+R media?
What software do you youse for playing back your Video DVDs?
