dvd rom and dvd writer not working

it goes like this we have had a new DVD rom and DVD writer its been working for about a month but today it just comes up with this message

no supported DVD+/-r or DVD +/-rw recorders found

has anyone got any idea whats going on any help would be great fingers crossed

What came up with this message, Windows itself or a software application?
and please provide us more details:
motherboard model and chipset
player and burner model,
all installed burning software
And what did you install/change since it worked before?

there might be something wrong with your ASPI. try searching for CompelASPI or ForceASPI. either of those will install ASPI 4.60.

Everything can go wrong when you use Windows 98 (SE). Anyway, check the Duracell comments.

Which software? - I've seen some that are crippled by DLL mismatch problems - was anything else installed or updated at around that time?
