dvd rip to vcd but SVCD wont play

Stand alone DVD player will play vcds fine but has troble with
playing SCVD... real slow or not at all. Is the player at fault
or the Svcd encoded wrong???help me chicken man?

As joripe said, not all DVD players can play SVCD. What brand and model no. is it?

Also, the SVCD, do you know the data rate used to make it with? as many DVD players cannot handle hight data rate SVCD's but can handle lower data rate ones.

Also try copy it to a CDRW rather than a CDR, it may just be the media as well.

This is actually a prob a friend is having and I keep telling him
to stop buying cheap cd's and burn @ 4x instead 16x..
I have I think the cheapest DVD player on the planet and it plays
vcd&Svcd fine..I have never seen a dvd player that would play vcd but not Svcd...So I guess I was wrong...heh THNX again >

most sony dvd's (i owe 725d) play vcd on cdrw but no svcd. on the other side my samsung m205 (150€) plays any svcd burned at any speed. also the cdr-vendor doesn't really matter.

queer. i'm using the default settings for nero and it plays on my samsung and on my compy (even m$ windows media player when svcd codecs installed)
