dvd region

HI, on my new dvd drive it says it's only possible to change the region 5 times, does anybody know of any way of stopping this?

I'm a newbie to all stuff like this so could someone just give me a little help please,

I downloaded the freeversion, this will do the job right?

Whilst trying to install it says select ifo file or something?? what does this mean and where can i find it??

You mean Free DVD 1.0 ? - not heard of that before, but it looks like it only unprotects already ripped files.

There is another FREE option, DVD43, but the reports on it are a little variable.

Remember, to use DVD43, you must have Win2000/XP and you need to download and install the Patin-Coufin layer (unless already using blindread/blindwrite from VSO)


What drive is it, if it's one for which there is effective RPC2 autoreset firmware available, that may be an alternative (and preferable to the older firmware hacks - RPC1 which then needed a software region defeat).
The other "hack" for some drives, is a reset program which can be used whenever needed - and that has the virtue of not requiring firmware to be reflashed.

Right dudes cheers for the help, but i'm a real newbie to all this stuff.

I downloaded the free programme from www.dvddiddle.com, will this enable me to change region on my dvd drive infinate times?

I've got windows xp, and i got a dvd drive that i got with my pc, it's called atapi 50 times read.

I don't understand all the firmware stuff, could anybody explain???
