DVD ram problem with lg burner

LG electronics 4082b burner. It advertises that it does dvdram.

I create a dvdram on my Panasonic E50, and the LG just sees it as a blank cd.

Not exactly what I wanted. I did install latest firmware into LG.

Would appreciate any help.

All video edit programs do the same thing. They see no usable files on the dvd ram.

Disk brand is Panasonic.

Win98se on my pc.

Read a few reviews on the panasonic. It says "The disks must be finalised first which will make them compatable with any unit." Other than that most of the reviewers also had problems with the dvd-ram compatibility.

Apparently, although specs advertised say DVDRAM capability, the OEM version of the LG does NOT have DVDRAM capability, because it comes with no driver for Windows 98SE/ME/2000. Driver is not available at LG website either (that's nasty).

Did a lot of research on web and usenet.

Found driver for a PANASONIC device that works.

My Ulead editor software works great and can edit and burn disc. As usual, the Pinnacle Studio 8 is useless.

Glad you found the answer!LG should have at least placed an information card in the box with the drive informing people of the problem. It should have also been posted on their website. Good information you posted. It will help others with that drive.
