DVD-RAM on computer DVD?

ohk

New member
Hi there,
I was wondering whether it would be possible to play DVD_RAM discs that I recorded on my panasonic dvd recorder (for tv) on my computer dvd player? I tried playing them on my dvd recorder but it would not recognize it whatsoever. Do I need a special dvd player or special software or? If so what kind?

Thanks

Toshiba SD-M1612 is down as a DVD-RAM reading DVD-ROM, as is the M1712 - maybe it's a feature of the Toshiba range.
Not only the Toshibas, but I do have a 1712, and I can confirm it can read DVD-RAM disks...

And, of course, LG's DVD-ROm is also down as a DVD-RAM reader - LG are the main (only?) proponent of DVD-RAM in writers - there were some old Panasonics that did -R/-RAM only (very old, but a stock of LF-D311's surfaced a few month ago - and sold out, despite their miserable speed and lack of CD-R writing capability) and a more recent laptop drive of theirs did -R/-RW/-RAM - but they don't seem to be behind -RAM with anything else in their range.
