DVD+R write speed problem

Hi,
I'm using burnatonce to burn to DVD+R discs. However, the write speed is always set to max after I have inserted the DVD+R disc and it then attempts to write at 16x!! Obviously, the DVD's are not working. I'm using a Philips DVDRW416K/00 drive and XP. Is there something I'm not doing correctly? If I burn using a DVD+RW disc it burns fine. Help!!!

Burnatonce support for non-Pioneer DVD burners is really crappy/ less hit, more miss with the included "dvdrecord" module, which is in fact a cdrecord hacked for Pioneeer drives. Using BAO reliably with other drives really requires a. getting cdrecord pro-DVD and renaming it accordingly to the BAO site instructions, and b. getting a free serial from the cdrecord pro-DVD developer, which will unlock the module for burning more than 1 GB, but the time needed to get your free serial is really dependent on mr. Georg Shilling's moods (or rather load of work). You might have to wait quite a bit for that serial, some forum members had to wait for 3-3.5 months to get it... but they did, in the end.

Thanks for that! Is there any other free burning software that would suit? I've tried Nero 5, but the DVD's only work on the PC and not on my Philips DVD 625 player.

Many thanks in advance

this problem does not cause Nero;
use reliable DVD media like Ritek, or check Phillips' homepage what brands they are recommending;

I would say try CopyToDVD works for me. You might also want to read what other people had to say about your DVD player and try other media like Duracell said. I say ritek is one of the best. :cool:

I've downloaded CopytoDVD and it works fine! I'm using the same DVD+R's as I was before, but the copies work on my PC and set top players! Many thanks to all of you for your help! Happy New Year Everybody!!!
