dvd-r question

A friend recorded a dvd-r for me and it won't play in my player or in my computer. I was wondering if it is possible to play a dvd-r in a normal dvd player in a pc. Any software player I can get so it will work??? Thanks

Hi Josh_B, Welcome to our forum!

check the DVD PC drive's manual, if the drive is compatible with DVD-R;
also you need a DVD player software like PowerDVD or WinDVD, but this won't help if the DVD PC drive isn't compatible;
