dvd-r movies freezing only for approx 3secs

when backing up my movies i do the following:
1st dvd decrypter
2nd dvd shrink
3rd nero back dvd video to burn the disc at 2.
Some discs play fine but some freeze at a particular bit for a few seconds and then play fine. This can happen a few times or with BASIC recently quite a lot during the movie.
I replay the area where it froze and it replays it fine only to freeze maybe 10 or 20mins later for a few secs. I tend to compress to at least 8 or 9 to get all the extras on so could it be that i am tryinig to shrink it too much.
the discs I use are datasafe media ( i think this is ritek).
Any ideas?

The only time it could jump is on the action scenes or somewhere where theres alot of action going on.. Yes I think you might be compressing it 2 much... try splitting the movie on two DVD Disc Keep the Quality....

Be sure U use Ritek G04 Die on your disk.

I would double check to see if they are ritek. Use a program like DISCInfo to check them. Also try another program to burn. I like CopyToDVD. Lets us know how you make out.
