DVD-R burn won't work on my PC

Hi

I just bought the Sony RDR-GX3 DVD Recorder, but seem to be having problems with playing the DVD that I’ve just recorded on my PC laptop,

I am using a straight forward, DVD-R disc, and recording in Short Play, the disc works fine in other home DVD players but soon as I put it in my DVD laptop it does not recognise the disc, I have tryed recording in LP, EP & SLP mode and still no joy, can anyone help??

Hi ya 1st up you need to identify if your laptop is compatible with the media format your using with you DVD recorder.
Check in your handbook or their homepage to see which formats your notebook/lap top can read (play back)..DVD-R DVD+R etc. If it turns out that your drive plays pressed DVD movies ok and supports DVD+R and not DVD-R or DVD-RW then this is your problem as the DVD recorder you have does not support DVD+R from my findings I may well be wrong here you need to check this also.
Now if it supports most DVD read formats then your problem may well be media related so change your media.
I just had a very quick look up on your DVD recorder ON 1 site (not Sony) it claims this drive has special video mode enable you to burn DVDs that will play in the widest variety of DVD players. So if you not tested this mode it may be worth while if you intend to play them on your laptop I doubt that it will work.
Hope this helps you track the problem your having...
Have a good day/night ;)
