DVD-R burn from Divx jumps when played on DVD

I recently started burning Divx using chicken mans amazing tutorial and I have burned a few succesful DVD's. However, I ran into a few divx's that, after converting and burning, don't work well in my DVD player. The movies are very scrambled (like trying to watch scrambled cable channels) and in black and white. The audio works fine however. Ever heard of this? Any suggestions?

Is this a standalone DIVX player? Or are you converting to DVD, then watching on your standalone? What make/model is it?

I'm converting to DVD using the Divx to DVD-R tutorial. Then im watching them on a standard DVD player. I have succesfully converted and burned onto DVD a few movies (originally formatted in Divx), but for some reason a few of them appear to be scrambled on my Kenwood DVD player.

My guess would be that they had bad frames to begin with. Try watching them on your PC first to make sure your files are ok before converting them. Or use Virtualdub MP3 to search for bad frames. If they're not real bad, you could try frameserving them with Virtualdub into CCE or TMPGEnc.

Do the MPG files play on the PC fine but then the burn image is crap as you say? Or is the MPG image also crap?

Was the avi encoded with DivX or Xvid? (GSPOT will tell you that) and if Xvid, what actaul codec have you installed?

The mpg is fine. It is just after I burn them that it appears like shit on all DVD players (I have tried it in multiple players.) The DVD plays fine on my PC however. The file was Xvid and I have Xvid mpeg-4 codec as well as Xvid mpeg-4 Video decoder. Any suggestions?

As above, try different media. Or maybe try using Record Now MAX/DX as an alternative to Nero. You didnt happen to have just installed Nero 6.0.x did you ?
