i donot know how to low the average bitrate.
i bought a device of Panasonic to record the movie digitally on computer from the camcorder, so its make the movie in avi and reqires almost 15 GB, the software is motiondv studio. After editing and make changes in the movie , I save ouput as MPEG1 so the 15 GB file becomes 1.01 GB in mpeg format, so that it can be recorded on VCD. But the file is to big to record on Cd and i want to make a single dvd.
DVD software say out of space on 1.01 GB movie is about 1 hour and 51 min ,but it records fine when i spilt the file and make the file size 650 MB then movie becomes 59 min. The whole movie donot comes on single dvd.

sorry, i don't have knowledge in DVD backuping, but i think you have to compress the video; please stay a little bit patient, the experts will surely find and reply your question;
