Dvd quality not so hot

Okay, I searched the whole forum and either I'm not wording my problem properly or no one else is having the same problem. I've got the decrypting and shrinking thing all worked out. Burning is fine, but the playback on my standalone dvd player ( Toshiba SD 2109 ) varies from one dvd backup to the next. Some movies burn great, others don't. The first problem is with the audio. Sometimes the audio justs quits. I resolved this problem by pausing the dvd player then hitting play. Its like the dvd player needs time to catch up to the video. The second problem is with the video. Kind of choppy, like when you have a digital signal that doesn't load all at the same time. 75% of the picture shows up and the other 25% trickles in afterwards. As far as the process of backing up the dvd, nothing has changed. Dvd Decrypter to Dvd Shrimk to Nero 6. The only thing that has changed is the end result. Oh I also use Ritek Dvd's the ones with the purple on the burning side shinny on top. I tried burning at 1x to see if it helps but does not. I use a LG 8x burner and the Ritek's are rated at 1x to 2x.

I'd suggest you get some 4x Ritek, they are next generation from the 1-2x stuff and a lot better media. DVD Player playback problems is generally Media problems or the actual player itself. Its easier to change the media.

Thanks for the advive, should I still burn the 4x disc at a slower speed or try burning them faster.

I have ABSOLUTELY no problems burn the 4x media at 4x. You would only consider burning at 2x to help eliminate a problem. Burning at 8x is at your own risk, just remember the manufacture suggests 4x. Many will say they have no probs burning them at 8x or 6x but what appears to be working for them now may come back to haunt them 6m or a year down the track when they go to watch their backup again.
