I took some DV AVI's, using Nero Vision (packaged with Nero 6 Ultra), and converted to dvd with 5 chapters only 12 minuetes of video. It plays great in my stand alone players, two of them. It even palys on my desktop (win xp pro). It however will not paly on the laptop (win xp pro) I burned it with. when I put it in the drive it trys to read it then when I click on the drive it tells me it is not accessable.

Could this be an ASPI Layers prblem? On teh laptop I think the only one there is the Nero one on my desktop i loaded the Forced ASPI utility.

I have played burned dvds on the laptop with the same media I used this time. They were backup copies I made using dvd shrink, dvd decrypt and nero burning rom. They all played very well with Interviedo WinDVD. The difference this tiem is i used Nero express and my own video clips. BUt I do not understand why it will play in every thing else i put the disk in but not this laptop. ANy help would be great

could be the problem; download and install ForceASPI 1.7; also disable IMAPI;
all you need you can find there: http://www.dvdrbase.com/showthread.php?t=32137

Beside Nero do you have/had any other burning software installed at your Laptop?

Duracell- Thank you for your reply.

I tried the forceASPI as directed by the guide you supplied. The ASPI did install and is operating correctly.

However still does not work. When InCd is running I get a popup asking if I want to format. I turn InCD offf and try again then I get the not accessable popup again.

I used to have Easy CD cretor 5 Basic installed but unistalled it prior to istalling Nero ^ Ultra Edition.

I currently have on the laptop the HP software that came with me External DVD burner HP Dc 4000. it is as follows:
Record Now (never used)
HP Video transfer wizard
muvee autoProducer DVD edition
Simple Backup
Archsoft Showbiz DVD 2
Thats all i can find. I am stumped on this and it's driving me nuts. ANy furtehr help would be great.

Try an uninstall of InCd....it seems that it has gained total control over that drive,not allowing other programs to unlock it.

I thought of that but the same thing happens with the external DVD. I tried a backup copy of a movie and it lets me play fine but i am going to try it nonthe less.

I am a coach and a teacher we are in full swing rigth now and i use this compter to teach with an LCD projector for FB with our cutups. It is so much easier then VHS tape.

Archsoft Showbiz DVD 2
Easy CD Cremator and Record Now are well known troublemakers in combination with Nero (6)

1. uninstall InCD
2. uninstall Record Now and all video/burning soft you don't need;
3. reboot
4. download and apply Ahead's cleaning pack: http://www.ahead.de/en/631938356417810.html
5. reboot
6. do a test burn with Nero (simulation is enough) and attach the Nero log file here, so we can look for leftover conflicting drivers; the Nero log file is called "NeroHistory.log" and is stored in the Nero program folder; when posting the file please delete out your Nero serial number;
