iv read that you should not put a dvd player on top of a vhs player is this true i i have my sat reciever on top of a vhs could i put the dvd player on top of the satelite box so as to be player

The problems that you would have are that one piece of equipment can interfeare with the other.

The switched mode power supplies that are used in both tv video satalite dvd equipment can radeate into each other. The results are paterning and some times loss of sync. The picture signals coming from within the equipment are very small in places and can be effected by larger power supply signals.

The other problem here is heat build up in any electrical equipment that is poorly ventilated caused by the vents being obscured by the other stuff in the stack :(

But I have my Grundig sat receiver on top of a JVC DVD player <> no problems (but when I first did it I regularly checked re the heat problem but there were no problems) but ensure plenty of space for hot air to disperse!

I have my DVD player sat on my VCR and my satelite reciever sat on my DVD player. Never had any problems, the only time you may suffer ghosting is dependent on the quality of the scart leads and or the way order they are connected.

@ fender62,

VCR VHS cassettes use magnetic tape, which is susceptible to emf (electro magnetic force), which many electrical devices create when in use. In short you have the potential to “erase” the data that is recorded on your VCR VHS cassettes if your VCR VHS player/recorder is placed in close proximity other electrical components.

Suggest referring to your VCR VHS player/recorder user/operation manual and look for the “Avoid Strong Magnetic Fields” warning.

I have know individuals who have placed VCR VHS cassette tape on top of their television for a short period and have found the tape destroyed by emf artifact “erasures”.

Regards,
Coaster
