DVD labelling

I know full well you will hear a lot of people contradict this, but I have labeled ALL of my ritek discs, with fellows matte labels, using a memorex applicator for regular labels, and an old spindle for full face. I have none of the skipping problems others describe.I have a Sony 315B and a Phillips 724 and it's not an issue for me at all. My labels look great, as I scan at 1200 dpi and print on a HP 2410 AIO printer at 4800dpi.

It doesn't effect the readability of your dvd's that much.....the problem is that a dvd produces more heat than a cd ,the label's glue could get loose from the disc's surface...

Also, the labels can put the DVD out of balance if the label is of crap quality and not applied accurately (exactly centralized). This can cause all sorts of long term problems to the Player.

Yup .... I had probs with labels and put it down to them causing a weight throw problem on certain disks .... never used them since.
I knew it was a label problem, because the disks worked fine before i put the labels on, but failed to read afterwards.
I was using the PressIt applicator & labels and looking closely at them they were not quite centered.

I had always labelled CDr's, but it seems as though it doesn't take much to imbalance DVDR's.

Hey, Phil
Another familiar name on this forum. It's Templar from the "other" forum here. My u/n was taken, so I'm Blanchfort, on this one.
I can't seem to access those forums for a few days now. Anyway, welcome over here. You'll see a lot of other regulars like Lazza, and celtic_druid here as well. Happy holidays.....:D

Have you noticed that if you hold a cdr disk up to the light you can see through it well the same goes for the lazer on a cd/dvd deck .It will have some effect and if you have not had eany problems great but you will find that other people have . Try a search on the net and you will see.
