There all good drives and not so long ago I got a Liteon 166 and used the Windows RPC-1 utility from here to make my drive region free took 2 seconds if that. I must say Pioneers are also good.
Best thing I would do is look at a range of drives and make note of their model number. Then have a search on the above link to see if you can find a tool or firmware for the ones your looking for..Pioneers link to region free can be found here. http://www.dvdrbase.com/showthread.php?t=37008
i don't recommend asus, sometimes very pricky with some badly burned dvdrs...samsung is somewat good, but heats a lot 2 much, has a long life span imo due to its heating, but reads everything...
Like poacher said lite-on I believe its the only way to go. My lite-on rips anything I put in it if its scratched or not. Also the best part is its usually the cheapest.
