Hello Everyone,

Is there some trick to getting DVD Decryptor to Read faster on a Plextor PX-708A?

I can't seem to find a place where I can set the read speed and it's currently only reading at 2X for this drive.

Thanks for your feedback in advance!

OK here is the scoop folks!

I can't believe they did this with the Plextor drive but apparently the drive is locked at 2X.

The work around is to hold down the eject button for 3 or 4 seconds until the light comes on then insert the DVD-R you want to read from and it will read at max. As soon as that disc is ejected it will return to the 2X default so you will have do to this every single time you want to read at the Max.

Just an FYI!

Yes..they do this with many dvd writers. Most of the Pioneers need hacked firmware to override the factory settings.Glad you found the fix so quickly.Think they lock them to save on the life of the drive.A dedicated Dvdrom drive is a good idea if you rip a lot of discs.Liteons are the best choice,as some models are also slow at ripping.

Yeah that's a good point, I'll go ahead and pick up one just for reading.

So do the Liteons also have to be hacked? I'd like to pick up one where this isn't going to be an issue.

Thanks woody!

No..the Liteon Dvdrom drives are fast, without any intervention. The LTD 163,165,166S are all good rippers. ;)

I agree but I flashed my LTD-163 with GH5Q and my rip speeds doubled as high as 12x. I don't know if any of the newer stock firmware would have done that.
