DVD copying problems...

First of all let me say HELLO to everybody that created and keep this great forum alive... this is my first post guys and gals... i hope that i'll find a solution to my problem... so, here we go...
I'm totally new to the scene and i just bought a DVD-R (SONY 500AX)... i heard that DVD X COPY was the best proggie around to copy a movie to one DVD-R (cutting the trailers and other junk) or to 2 DVD-R and that's what i used for my first copy... so i came up with a PERFECT copy of a movie which plays on my home DVD player and on my PC...
Now it's the hard part... when i tried to copy my copy DVD X COPY didn't work so i started trying other programs like NERO or ALCOHOL 120% but with no luck... NERO did the job without reporting errors but the copy didn't work... ALCOHOL reported too many errors...
What i would like to know is if there's a program that can give me a PERFECT copy of my copy... and if there is, does anybody knows what settings can i use?
ThanX in advance...

What version of Nero are you using, as versions before 55107b have know issues burning DVD video with set top players. I have copyied a DXC copy with Nero, without any problem.
As for copying a copy with DXC see this thread.

I just downloaded the b version today... i'll install it and i'll try it later tonight...
Are you sure that NERO will copy a copy that was created with DXC?
No problems with the DVD protection?
I also found out by doing a little "research" today all over the net (he he) that Alcohol 120% can also copy copies without any problems with the protection... i tried it later but with no luck as i didn't know what kind of protection DVD's have so i choose the right one...
Any help on this will be highly appreciated! :D
ThanX!

their is no protection on a copy.
Dvdxcopy just doesnt allow u to copy a backup made by itself.
just use dvd decryptor to copy your backups. its free and works everytime.

Try RecordNowMax 4.5
This will make a 1:1 copy of your DVDxcopy disc with no problems.
Have been using this for quite a while!

OK, i tried everything, even RecordNowMax 4.5 that Strobeman suggested... nothing works... there's no way to copy a DXC copy just as we do with a normal music cd...
I'll try DVD Decrypter tonight... i have never used this proggie so a have a question... as i don't care to remove macrovision, subtitles or anything else do i just have to make an image of the DXC copy and then burn it to a DVD-R, right?
Then i have a PERFECT copy without losing picture or sound quality?
ThanX for the help so far guys! :)

decryptor will automatically remove macrovision and region protection.
This does not affect sound and video quality at all.
Just select mode/iso/read..........read it.
Then mode/iso/write.........burn it.
it will work for any dvd5. 4.7gig. whether backup or not.

DAMN! I should have done that from the very first time...
OOPS! I forgot that i own the original DVD... hmmm... :p :D

So, that means that THAT copy should be no problem to copy with Nero or any other program...
ThanX for the help!
Now i'm convinced... i'll try it! :)

err. if u can copy with decryptor once, why on earth would u want to use nero?
Dvd decryptor is the best copier of dvd5 bar none.

thats funny!! since i have been using nero 55107 all my copies work in my yamaha DVD player(stand alone) where as they were not working in my Yamaha with previous nero versions!!!
all the copies i make work in my Pioneer stand alone!! but this is the first time they have worked in my Yamaha!!
at least i think thats why it working in my Yamaha now!! cant figure out what else it would be!!! maybe the Firmware!!???
anyway i have no probs with Nero 55107!! but it looks like so many people do!!?? why is that!!??

My guess is that any problems related to copy software, is mainly due to one conflicting with the other.
Nero traditionally would not tolerate easy cd creator, easy would place a VXD in the IOSUBSYS folder. This would actually cause windows to lock-up at startup(after re-booting from installation), there where two remedy's 1)Remove the offending VXD and all would be fine, 2)install Nero, copy the installation folder and paste somewhere else then un-install(this was until I discovered the VXD, which I believe was for disabling auto-run).

The only copy software 'Installed' on my system is...Nero, Cdrwin and ClomeCD. All seem to get along together without issues, sorry I forgot DXC. All other ripping encoding etc software, will run straight from their folder without having to install.

Personally I prefer the Nero interface, until DXC came on the scene issues with set-top DVD players were never a concern(they used Nero as an alternative burn engine).
After 321 and Ahead got together to resolve this issue, they seem to have come up with a solution in 55107b.

I'm using version 5.5.9.0 and working perfectly for DVDR backups. A friend uses 5.5.9.17 and is fine also. Nero version 5.5.10.0 was a real problem and would not make a playable DVDR, I suspect there were a few issues after that that had the same problem but it is all sorted now with the latest available.

Anybody have any links to screenshots using nero? I'll check my version. i had 5.5.9.0 and when i put the nero cd that came with my New DVD Drive, it said to remove the older version. I'll check. I burned a DVD ok using Nero, but it wouldn't play in my home players at all, and more less copied as files as PowerDVD would only work if i selected the files, then had it open with PowerDVD.
