dvd burning

dvd burning help needed

Hello, I need help with dvd burning, i had a mpeg file that I wanted to make into a DVD (did not have a clue how to do this) i changed the file into an ISO, not even sure if i was doing the right thing, then somehow i managed to burn that to a dvd...the file only takes up a about 25% of the space on the dvd-r. i thought it should have been full?

now i can play the dvd on my daughters dvd player (the picture of the dvd is not very good) but it will not play on mine..

does anyone have any idea what kind of dvd format i will have made?
Also what is the best kind of movie file to burn onto a dvd?

what kind of programs do i need to make dvd's? there are so many different ones these are the programs i have right now

All Xvid - Divx Codecs
Dvd2one
DVDshrink
TMPGEnc DVD
TMPGEnc Plus
DVD Decrypter
IsoBuster
MagicISO

could you please tell me what programs i should keep and what are no good
and order i should use them

no, burning a CDR ISO to DVD media isn't the way to go; :)

Nero uses one of the worst encoders (quality wise); check out our tutorials and you finally get better results; compare yourself; :)
