DVD Burning

Hi,

I'm a complete newbie (well, 5 hours ago I was!!) so sorry if this has been posted a few times!

I've read loads of posts and did loads of searches but couldn't find the answer so here goes.

I recently got a sony vaio (XP, 80GB etc etc) with two drives, DVD+-RW/CD-RW and a CD-ROM. I thought I'd try and back up a DVD and went through all that ripping, compressing malarky (used DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink - I read the tutorial at http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/141024.php) and that all worked, I've checked the video_ts.ifo file I'm left with and it seems fine hurrah! :)

So...I wanted to try burning DVDs so I bought a Memorex DVD+RW (I didn't want a coaster) and first tried copy2dvd. I kept getting an error message saying something like 'place a writable CD in the tray' when it was! So then I tried burnatonce and it would start writing and 6sec later spit it out with a bunch of errors. Then I tried Nero (getting a bit annoyed now!!) but it couldn't detect my drives (also said at the bottom that it failed to load some files).

I have now given up for the time being...should I try other DVD burning software or is it just me??!! Sorry for the long post but I'm going mad!!

Thanks in advance for ANY help!!!!!!! :)

Try a DVD-RW instead. Nero should be fine but sounds like you need to re-install it. Try version 5.5.10.54 rather than their ver 6.0.x
