DVD AC3 - Re-encoding

Can anyone help with reducing the file size on DVD9 - DVD5 where I was looking to reduce the size of the ripped AC3 file (which was 384kbs) to maybe 192 - 224.

I used AC3 Machine from Doom9 - but it seems to clip out on occasions when played on a DVD Player thru an AV amp using the digital feed. What settings should I be using - or is there a better prog? It would seem useful to be able to make space for higher bitrate video at the expense of the audio on occasions.

Cheers.

headache or besweet from doom9 can do this.
But dropping the audio rate to 192 would be too much for me.
Many dvds are 448.
Better to re encode video slightly.
You would not see the difference. ;)
