dvd2dvdr

i have used dvd2dvdr it works a treat but it takes about 6 hours to rip and encode a movie but it works fine i burned lord of the rings onto one dvdr all you get is the movie with all the chapters on it no fancy bits

cheers andy:) :) :)

Dvdxcopy if u dont mind 2 Dvds. (some will fit on 1 but most do not). You will get the exact quality of the original.
Dvd2dvdr if u want to re encode the movie to fit on 1 disc (no extras and a slight drop in quality.) Takes longer.

DVDXCopy is the best for DVD-9 to DVD-5 x 2 disc 4.7GB.
No Compression and Encoding. 3 steps Complete CopyBackup.

Yahoo post: SAN FRANCISCO - Hollywood fought back against a maker of DVD movie copying software, countersuing the company for allegedly trafficking the tools of digital theft.

Seven major motion picture studios filed a counterclaim Thursday in U.S. District Court, Northern District of California against 321 Studios, makers of DVD Copy Plus and DVD X Copy.

The software sold at stores nationwide allows the user to make a copy of a DVD to a blank CD or DVD by defeating the copy protections encoded onto the original movie disc. The studios contend that is an illegal activity.

The movie studios say the software contains the power of digital piracy, and asked the court to enjoin 321 Studios from selling it or distributing it. The studios also seek damages from any proceeds derived from the company's software sales.

"It's like somebody selling a digital crowbar. It's like breaking into the castle if you will," said Patricia Benson, an attorney for the studios.

When 321 Studios' first product — DVD Copy Plus — came out and the company sought a declaration that it did not violate federal law, Hollywood shrugged and the studios simply sought to have the case dismissed, stating there was no "case or controversy."

DVD Copy Plus copies DVD movies to blank CDs, though in a compressed video format.

But with the advent of 321 Studios latest offering — DVD X Copy — the stakes are a little higher. The software allows the user to burn an exact copy of the original DVD to a blank DVD, without any diminished quality or compression.

So they werent so interested until someone finally worked out a good way to do it, Now they want them out..Typical.

Keep an eye on the arrival of InstantCopy...

Hello guys,

the wonder tool Draak is talking about will be InstantCopy (originally from VOB, which was bought bei Steinberg, but recently Steinberg was bought by Pinnacle).
On the dutch site of Pinnacle there is an announcement for the release of InstantCopy in february.
I've read articles about this software (c't - a german very good and serious computer magazine). They have tested an alpha version which was by far the best and FASTEST tool they had been testing ever. The soft will do a "some clicks" copy of a DVD9 to DVD5 with menus and extras and everything on disc ... If that is not enough they said that the tool is not transcoding the whole video stream but only the keyframes which meant a copy of a 2 hours movie in something more than 2 hours. I must confess that I'm looking on a daily basis for this release - coz I too was very nice last year and Santa brought me a Ricoh MP5125. I already managed to do 1:1 copies with manus and extras by recompressing the movie (using a whole bunch of tools like Ifoedit, IfoUpdate, Vobedit, Vobrator, TMpeg, DVD2Avi, etc) so I can tell you it's a lot of work !!! I also used DVDxCopy 1.3.1 - which is nice and very easy to use, but I hate having 2 DVD+Rs for one movie, not talking about the fact that the price is double.
I have to mention that with Ifoedit it is very easy to make a copy of the movie itself on one disc (though you would have to let your puter to work overnight) but unfortunately I'm a perfectionist (sigh!!) and therefore would like to have EVERYTHING what is on the original on my copy - this is hard work if you want it on a single disc.

Have a nice weekend ... and keep looking for InstantCopy from Pinnacle !!!

Hey guys,

after reading the new c't magazine, I was very interested to see the other advertised program : dvd2one . Don't understand me wrong, I'm still waiting for InstantCopy. BUT: DVD2One is a hell of a program: first of all it is mainly written in assembly language - which means it's fast and it's only less than 100 kB big. Second it is using the same "intelligent" compression mode like InsatntCopy will : just reducing the keyframes. Only drawback for the time being is that it does "only" the main movie - no menus, no extras.
All you have to do is rip the DVD to your HDD (about 20 minutes) with DVDDecrypter; fire up DVD2One and tell him where you have ripped your files and where to put the files he is processing; then you can choose which languages and subtitles you want to KEEP; and after 20 minutes you have in the specified folder the files (remember, movie only !!!), very EXACTLY 4,37 GB, which are ready to burn with your favourite burning program (Gear Pro for me) and this step should take another 20 minutes. If you were not playing basketball during your arithmetics hours at school you will notice that you need ONLY ABOUT AN HOUR to have a perfect copy of the movie (and only the movie).
For me this is really great programming - anyhow the guys writing their code in assembly are for me the REAL programmers.
Got interest in the program ???? Go to dvd2one.com and BUY it. It's 47 Euro, which are really worth !!!! Such good coders should be supported by any means !!!!
End of story, have a nice day.

Hello poacher,

kind of you to answer that fast and so constructive. I've done a quick and dirty search on the forum for "dvd2one" : 4 (four) results. Not THAT many ... and I read them all. Well, I still think that my post has a tiny little (maybe hidden ;-)) contribution. mb1's link to his view of the proggie is very good, but only for those able to understand german.
If you still feel that I've done something wrong, you as a Super-Mod, still have the option of deleting my post.

Kind regards,

teutonu

T U have done nothin wrong I was informing U of further posts on the proggy in case U hadnt seen them The-poacher
