Dvd 2 (s)vcd Tutorials Using Cce Plugin Not Standalone.

Does anyone know of a good tutorial where you can convert DVD to (S)VCD using FlaskMPEG and the Cinema Craft Encoder PLUGIN not the standalone program what DVD2SVCD uses. Or alternatively, any tutorial that uses the CCE PLUGIN. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have u tried vcdhelp.com?
The best results for DVD to VCD are by using Chickenmans Tutorial (found on this forum) but that uses tmpegenc.
The results are superb if u use the max quality settings.

Btw welcome to the forum!!:D

DVD2(s)VCD using CCE Plugin (For Daveml)

Yes, I have tried vcdhelp.com - it's a great site. However, despite there being a tutorial using CCE, this method also uses other software where the links to them are dead. I will give Chickenmans tutorial another go, I've made a VCD this afternoon using his Panasonic Plugin method but I haven't checked how the final VCD came out yet. Perhaps I can somehow use the CCE plugin and work out the settings myself instead of using the Panasonic Plugin. If you hear of any other tutorials that use the plugin of CCE please send me a PM. Thanks for welcoming me to the forum.... btw how do you get to Gold Status?

If its just vcd u want, then the dvd2avi and tmpegenc method kicks panasonics ass!
It may take some time to encode the final file, but boy is it worth it.
I only like to encode a vcd once so I choose quality over speed every time.
Chickenman really knows his stuff so if u have problems he can normally deal with them.( he's an Aussie so he's usually on during our daytime).
Shadoe phantom is another brain worth picking on this subject, but everybody here can and will help u if they are able.

Ok, thanks - I'll bear all that in mind. My DVD player can play SVCD but I don't really like wasting 3 discs (I don't use cheap CD-R's you see) to write a movie onto. So, yes - I tend to opt more for VCD's. You say that you go for Higher Quality over speed, well - me too... time's not really an issue. Do you use any particular spec for your template and do you do both backup's of both Region 1 and Region 2 films? If possible, perhaps you could talk me through your routine or upload your TMPGENC template for both Regions, that would be a great help. Once you've burned your VCD's, on parts of a film do you notice that the picture is blocky when it comes to darker scenes? I wondered if it was because my DVD player isn't particularly expensive or whether it was because of the encoding process in general. I like to use a higher video bitrate if possible, making an XVCD (as my player supports just about everything) but I have to do several tests on CD-RW's before burning the final thing and it's time consuming. I just wish I could create a couple of templates that would work with every movie I wanted to backup!

VCD_pat, your wasting your time trying to use CCE with FlaskMPEg if your making VCD's. CCE is optimised for High bitrate mpegs like SVCD or DVD, a VCD is just to low (at 1150). It makes really crappy VCD's. It also cannot handle Audio if you have an AMD processor.

On the other hand, TMPGEnc is better optimised for lower bitrate MPEGs and makes fantastic VCD, better than Panasonic Encoder can ever do.

Read every forum out there and you will find not one of them will recommend the use of CCE for making VCD's. I have tried many time myself and end result is crap. I wish you the best of luck.

Also would suggest you have a read of this thread http://forum.cdrsoft.cc/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6512&perpage=15&pagenumber=1

agreed with the master (ChickenMan) & the students (joripe, daveml, & myself) lol.
For best results for you to make VCDs, use either FlaskMPEG with Panasonic plugin or better still DVD2AVI with TMPGEnc (plus version also).
They have everything you need to make both PAL & NTSC standard formats. You must stick with those standards at the right bitrates. It will give you a quality fairly close to the SVCDs (maybe a 10% loss or so). You can also correct colors & such.
Just follow the tutorials by CM & all will be fine & dandy.
Won't hurt to try =)

Thanks ChickenMan... gr8 nfo. I had no idea that CCE didn't work properly with an AMD... I was wondering why when I used DVD2SVCD using the Standalone CCE Encoder I didn't get any sound in my finished MPG streams. I DO have an AMD ATHLON XP PROCESSOR. All I can say is that it's a good job I did find a crack for the CCE plugin and didn't splash out little short of $2,000 to buy it! I've just visited h**p://www.cinem*c!aft.com and they claim it does support my processor, so I'm guessing it's just SVCD that isn't supported with the Athlon... Well, I will endeavor to try your other tutorials in the near future, thanks again to you and everyone else who's been a wealth of information on the forum.

DVD2SVCD with CCE makes great SVCD's with an Athlon processor, I have one and works great. CCE is only used to encode the Video, the Audio is extracted and converted separatly. When the Video is converted, the 2 are then multiplexed together. The resultant MPG or CUE/BIN files WILL have sound in them if you selected an audio track that existis in the movie.

What you where trying to do with Flask and CCE would not work as there CCE is expected to process both Video and Audio, which it will not on your AMD XP processor.

Chickenman, thanks once again for your valuable feedback, I tried your DVD to VCD method last night and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and it was so easy to follow. Since reading your message above, I copied the music video VOB's from a DVD Single I have and encoded it to SVCD using your DVD 2 SVCD tutorial along with CCE 2.5 Standalone. The quality IS outstanding. I did notice one thing though, although everything was in sync... on the original VOB files, the video fades out to black but when I burnt my finished SVCD MPG2 using NERO; I played it back on my DVD player and at the end of the video, the picture didn't fade out. Is there any way to fix this by altering any options on your tutorial? vcd_pat.

I have not found or seen that problem yet so not sure if I can help. I tend to make a Cue/BIN file and burn with CDRWin all the time now and have less problems than burning with Nero.

Try using Internal or VStrip to rip the DVD initially instaed of Smartripper.
