Dup-DVD key file??

Has anybody yet managed to find a working keyfile or hack for the latest version of Dup-dvd? I have been using flaskmpeg with the adobe premiere LSX plugin to do my MPEG conversion, the quality is very good but so is Dup-dvd, and has the advantage of being far simpler to use (less time consming). Why do people keep going on about TMPGEnc being good? I have used LSX which is nearly twice as fast to encode and better quality......If someone could answer any of these questions I would be most Grateful...
:D

Thanks in advance

welcome Frumble (err maybe not lol j/k).
Nothing beats the tuts section by ChickenMan.
They will give you the best quality (no matter what anyone else says), but may not always be the fastest method. Still quality is what we prefer over speed.
The best method you can use is probs DVD2AVI then use TMPGEnc to convert to mpeg.
If FlaskMPEG is what you like, then go with the panasonic plugin as mentioned by CM. However Flask does not produce better quality than TMPGEnc & Dup-DVD is one of the worst apps out there.
Look around on the boards (use that nifty search button if you like *top right hand corner) and you will see all the complaints & BS about Dup-DVD.
Hope this helps & ChickenMan is updating the tutorials soon (already has one), for the latest versions of some of the software.
Good luck.

The LSX Pluggin produces some of the poorest quality VCD's compared to all the alternatives available, DUP-DVD produces similar crappy output as well.

You are correct LSX is one of the fastest encoders around, but it produces crappy results. Same encoder used in Nero, by the way and it produces the same crappy results.

If your going to go to all the trouble of ripping, converting, cutting, burning, etc. then why not do it to get the best possible quality. It doesnt really take that much longer to get top quality VCD's. The best is rarely the quickest.

First of all guys thanks for replying.....

I will do one vob with dup-dvd, one vob with lsx, one vob the Chicken Man way and one vob with panasonic.... I will write the same VCD/SVCD to a few CDRW's and then play them on my standalone downstairs and compare the results....and if You are correct Chicken Man, I will stick to using your way and stuff the time constraints.....

P.S While we are on the subject of encoders has anyone used cinema craft with any joy?

Your opinions would be welcome

Thanks in advance

Frumble

I believe RASTBT & Tron & a few others have used cinema craft (at least one of them lol), & they say the results weren't that great.
TRUST US! & just use ChickenMan's tuts for your jobs. They will give you the best end results (bar none). But to each his own.
Good luck.

Fumble, thats the way. Everyone should do proper tests and determine for themselves what the best way. Fast action and dark is the hardest to encode to VCD.

Have had no joy what so ever with CCE from FlaskMPEG making VCD's. Quality is good until something moves, then pic goes crazy.

Used DVD2SVCD ver 1.0.9B1 last night to make a VCD (not a SVCD!). Quality was excellent but it was not a VCD. Was VBR (VCD's are CBR) and pic dimensions were 352x480, not 352x240 (it was an NTSC DVD i was ripping). So waiting for them to fix this problem.

Cheers for the advice guys!:D

As your all so helpfull , could someone please explain to me this:

I was given a coulple of SVCD's and a VCD from a mate, they played fine on the PC (using Powerdvd) but not on the standalone. So i tried to browse the mpeg/dat files in my computer, which then hung explorer and the only way to get my desktop back was to eject the CD. I then decided to put them through VCD gear on mpeg to mpeg fix errors ticked and it produced a perfect mpeg file. I burned this back through Nero and it worked on standalone and PC. The VCD DAT file i tried to copy to my hard disk got to 99 per cent and said "ilegal MSDOS operation" and failed to copy. Again vcd gear to the rescue! It worked fine on both PC and standalone. Now obviously there is a problem with the MPEG/DAT file..... but what can someone explain in detail why VCD's SVCD's do this on occasion and how VCD gear fixes it.

Many thanks in advance

Frum

Common problem, you or your friend is burning them at to high a speed and or using crap CDR's. As a general rule, do NOT burn any faster than 1/2 the max burning speed of your burner.

Different encoder tests and the results DVD/VCD

Well a while ago now I was looking for the best way of encoding, and the best encoder to do DVD to VCD backups. I took one vob from the same DVD, and encoded with each of the following encoders....

1: Dup-DVD (legit copy)
2: LSX
3: Cinema Craft
4: Panasonic VCD encoder
5: TMPEnc (The ChickenMan Way)

and the results for quality and speed are thus....

5: Cinema Craft Encoder....I could not get this encoder to work correctly as it has Problems with AMD chips and sound
4:Worst Quality Encoder award goes to LSX........Encoding time was Good
3: Dup-Dvd poor quality but very very poor encoding time and the mpegs occasionally glitched on my standalone (Corruption)
2: Panasonic Encoder did Fair quality VCD's with an average encoder time.
1: Number one encoder for VCD's I found to be TMPEnc (The ChickenMan Tutorial Way). It blew the socks off the rest and on High Quality Settings as per tutorial only took 8 Hours to encode a 2 Hour 21 minute film!!!!!!

Way to go ChickenMan!!!!!!

Hope everybody finds some use for this information!!

Thanks again to ChickenMan for showing me the Light:D

Frumble, glad you found the light. :) :D

As the old saying goes, I can lead a horse to water, but I cant make him drink. All I can give is my experiance and pass it on to others. I have done all the trials you have done plus many many more over the past couple of years and continue to find better & faster ways to encode.

Your contributions have been invaluble I'm sure to many readers here.

By the way, I'm currently looking at the latest DVD2SVCD ver to do VCD. It can be a one step solution that will give better audio than the DVD2AVI/TEMPGEnc method but it currently does not produce compliant VCD's. I have a pre Beta (?) that is now closer but still has a couple of issues. When the authur is able to fix these further glitches (I assume possible) expect a new Tut shortly with even better results!

Cheers ChickenMan coming from you that is a compliment Indeed....

Thing is i dont mind buying good software but when he has obviously spent more time on the copy protection than the encoding it tends to annoy me, (especially when i have purchased it) and the program had great potential, as in :

One Step DVD to (S)VCD!

shame, but your method is the best so until i discover different i shall keep using it

Cheers

Hey Frumble, Next time before you ask for a prog use the search button and you may come up with something special.

Hi Blane,

I did but that was some time ago and there were no keymakers or serials or cracks for Dup-Dvd that worked..... So I am very sorry but i do not understand??

How to get Dup-dvd to work ??

I have d/load i cant remember now many versions of dup-dvd with the cracks and tried them all, also many coasters :((( All that happens is that only the first cd gets written, tells me successfull and thats it, shit am i pissed off

As everyone keeps saying the quality it produces is absolute crap anyway so why even bother with it. Move on to something that does work.

If you want a simple, put DVD in, run a program, set size of CD and hit go, then EazyVCD is the one for you.

Its quick, extemely simple, produces excellent quality, and is FREE ! Get it from www.eazyvcd.tk
