hahaha, this is kinda funny.
This site has a dual Athlon 2GHz machine playing 55 matches of chess against a dual Xeon 2.4GHz box:

Though if you do not speak german you only get half of the info ..
Seems like this is a REAL performance test ...
AMD leading so far ...
Personally I love AMD since they came up with the Athlon ..
One of our two servers is powered by a Athlon and it has an uptime of 50 days ..
50 days without reboot, with reset or anything ..
Just runs fine ....
We even had 90 days uptime, but then the RAM was upgraded and we had to reboot :p
So far, AMD brought up a nice CPU and they are still improving their chips ...

Since AMD is a little company compared to Intel, I do buy AMD ..
I even bought a ATI gfx card, though the NVidia stuff is better ...

Support the little but innovative companies .. :)

Dual AMD vs Dual Xeon

Interesting to see how the AMD handicapped by 400 MHz and being an old technology still manages to beat the Xeon. Wonder if the Xeon is using the famous RDRAM.

Yeah, Intel did some weird stuff in the past ...
AMD is the more innovative company, that is my opionion ...
and they show their performance ! Their CPUs are still ususally ahead, though they have less Mhz then the stuff from Intel.
Which is really amazing. Seems like Intel is running out of ideas :p
And now AMD comes out with their 64 bit CPUs ...
Ehm, yeah ...
Intel will get in troubles :)

I have particular interest in this as I am running both a dual Athlon 1800 and 2000 and find that they thrash the dual Xeons not only in benchmarking but also in real day to day performance.
