Dual-Layer DVD+R

I've seen that Sony is going to be releasing a dual-layer DVD+R recorder very soon. These will hold around 9.4GB, and I am considering getting one.

The deciding factor would be if I could backup DVD movies without having to rip the video to my HDD first. Will this be possible using copy DVD in Nero in the future?

I've looked on quite a few site, and this is never mentioned!

I wouldnt go overboard about Dual Layer until its tried & tested & the cost of burners & media drops.
& U will still have to rip the DVD to make a backup <> Nero wont get rid of the protection.

Sony doesn't make drives anymore, this one will be made by LiteOnIt and stamped as Sony (other brands too). Hitachi/LG may come with a DVD-9 drive first.
Currently there's no mainstream software supporting DVD-9 premastering and copying, excluding Gear Mastering Edition (a $ 799.00 cheapo). But they will be some soon, I guess.
Verdict: Don't be in a hurry.

Getting Nero To Read CSS Discs

If you want Nero or any other DVD copying program to copy CSS protected disc, just get yourself a copy of a program called AnyDVD. AnyDVD intercepts the copy protection before it is read by the DVD programs.

why get a program that you have to pay for bris when DVD DECRYPTER is freeware and does the same thing and is more reliable !? not only that it also burns them too :)
