heh simply if one of your OS got a virus you have the chance to boot from the other and clean the virus.

I now have 2 hard drives, both with XP pro on them. How could I put win 2k on one of them.

40 gig is not plenty of room.
I use one just for dvd ripping (split into 2 partitions) and I need to back up or delete files every 3/4 days.
Only real way to protect your data is to back it up regularily.
