Drive A is using an MS-DOS compatibility mode file system

hi all i have a problem, i am using windows ME and i have disabled my floppy drive in the bios and unplugged the cables from the mother board. if i go into control panel/sytem under the preformance tab i have this message

Drive A is using an MS-DOS compatibility mode file system

i can remove the drive in the systems manager but when i reboot it finds a new a drive and installs it, even though i dont have one.
and again the message is in the performance tab.

i think this is what is making my computer run slow... any ideas please................thanks

make sure you go in the bios and select (drive a) as none, usually is in the standard cmos setup and in the intergrated peripherals select onboard FDC (floppy disk controller) to disabled.

you may want to remove the drive in windows system manager as you have before first then go into the bios and disable the FDC.

Some bios have an option "report no fd to windows" search for this in you bios if you have it set it to enabled.
